Teaching Philosophy
My fourth year of teaching full time has been joyful, challenging, and full of surprises. My students continue to inspire me every day, growing in leaps-and-bounds as learners, as musicians, as performers, and most of all as people. I’m proud of the joy, energy, and collaboration the entire school community demonstrates during every Showcase and special events. Moving forward, I plan to continue to deepen my teaching practice and grow my skills in supporting positive student behaviors, self-expression, social-emotional learning, independence, confidence, and joy. I have been proud to do so at P177Q. I still feel happy and honored to come to work every day.
“For teaching, like learning, involves learning from your mistakes, assessing what’s working and what isn’t, revising your thinking about the best way to proceed, and knowing that you’ll get better.” – Sharon Taberski
